Shares of Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) touched new 52-week high of Rs 167.50, up 3.8 percent intraday Wednesday after its first 800 MW supercritical thermal power plant started commercial operation.
"BHEL has commenced commercial operation of its first 800 MW unit - highest-rating coal-based supercritical thermal power plant at Yeramarus thermal power station of Raichur Power Corporation, in Raichur district of Karnataka," the company said in its filing.
Karnataka Power Corporation (KPCL) and BHEL are main equity partners of RPCL.
BHEL has supplied and executed 4,010 MW of coal based sets for KPCL and its joint ventures. It is also presently executing KPCL's first gas-based combined cycle power project of 370 MW capacity involving a fuel-efficient advanced-class gas turbine at Yelahanka, Bengaluru.
At 15:11 hours IST, the stock was quoting at Rs 166.40, up Rs 5.00, or 3.10 percent on the BSE.
