The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) said it will be taking stock of the status of milestone targets for sustainable development goal national indicators on August 16.
MoSPI will also be sensitising ministries on the recent developments on the 2025 comprehensive review of SDG global indicator framework.
India is a member of the Inter-agency and Expert Group on Sustainable Development Goal Indicators (IAEG-SDGs) until 2025, and the ministry plans to take the views of line ministries as suggestions for the global framework.
“MoSPI undertook the work related to setting up of milestones for SDG indicators, in consultation with the line Ministries, which will help in monitoring the progress of the SDGs upto 2030,” an official release stated on August 14.
The setting up of milestones is reviewed by MoSPI and Niti Aayog.
In June this year, the government had launched the Sustainable Development Goals – National Indicator Framework Progress Report 2024.
MoSPI has increased coverage of SDGs from the previous year. It now tracks 290 indicators across 17 SDGs compared with 284 in the previous year.
