How to obtain your Ayushman Vay Vandana card through Ayushman app

The Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana (AVVY) of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) is a pension scheme for citizens aged 60 years and above. It avails guaranteed pension benefits for a period of ten years and is now being digitally mapped to the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) to facilitate seamless access to benefits and health services. Eligible citizens are now able to generate their Ayushman Vay Vandana card online through the Ayushman app.

Comprehending the Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana

This scheme has the backing of the government to provide financial security to retired individuals by making payments of pensions regularly. For the ease of the buyer, the facility of monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, or annual disbursements is available. Flexibility is combined with security in this scheme. The premium cannot exceed ₹15 lakh, and the buyer can claim a return of the purchase amount when the tenure expires. There is also a provision of premature exit in case of critical medical conditions. Till 2025, this scheme has been integrated digitally with the national health database through the Ayushman Bharat app in order to facilitate easier tracking and management.

Downloading the Ayushman Bharat app

First, users are required to download the official Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission mobile application. It is downloadable for Android devices on the Google Play Store and for iOS devices on the App Store. Upon installation, users can proceed with registration and obtain their ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) ID, which will give them access to most digital health and pension services under the national program.

Registering and creating your ABHA ID

Once within the application, users will be asked to make an ABHA ID. This is achieved by authenticating a phone number and connecting an Aadhaar or PAN card. Users are assisted by the application through the process, and upon verification of the identity, an ABHA ID is created. This ID is your digital health identity and will be used for availing Ayushman Vay Vandana facilities.

Linking your LIC pension policy

After your ABHA profile is set up, the next step is to link your existing Ayushman Vay Vandana policy. Within the app, there is an option to link insurance or pension schemes. By selecting the Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana and entering your LIC policy number along with your date of birth, the app will verify your information. If the policy is valid and matches your ABHA data, it will be successfully linked.

Creating your Ayushman Vay Vandana card

Once the policy is associated, users can go to the area titled "My Health Cards" in the app. There will be an option to create the Ayushman Vay Vandana card here. By tapping on this, the app will generate a virtual card that contains the name of the policyholder, ABHA ID, and LIC

policy reference. This can be downloaded, printed, or saved in the app for use during medical consultations or LIC service visits.

Utilization of the card for verification and services

Ayushman Vay Vandana card is both a health benefits and pension tool. It may be shown at senior citizen service centres, partner hospitals, and LIC branches to ease identification and access to benefits. As it is integrated with the ABDM platform, it also facilitates hassle-free maintenance and retrieval of medical records for policyholders.

Key points of consideration for applicants

To obtain the card, the users need to have their LIC policy active and ABHA profile information—name and date of birth—registered with the LIC records. Aadhaar is required for verification of identity. In case of any discrepancies or technical problems during the process, the users are advised to call the Ayushman helpline at 155255 or approach the nearest LIC branch for help.
