Nvidia is working with data centre company Yotta to build fundamental computing infrastructure in India.

NVIDIA Corp’s Jensen Huang said its cutting edge Blackwell chips - crucial to its upcoming graphics processing unit (GPU) architecture - will be available for shipping to customers from the fourth quarter onwards, with production in full swing at TSMC's facilities.

Huang was speaking at the NVIDIA AI Summit India at Mumbai's Jio World Convention Centre on October 24.

CEO Jensen Huang said on Wednesday that a design flaw with Blackwell AI chips that impacted production has been fixed by manufacturing partner TSMC. Nvidia had unveiled the Blackwell chips in March but its plan to ship in the second quarter were delayed.

Blackwell is projected to deliver breakthroughs in performance and efficiency, addressing the growing demands in AI, data centres, and gaming technologies. This chip is anticipated to extend NVIDIA’s leadership in the GPU market by enhancing compute capabilities for high-performance tasks.

Nvidia's Blackwell chips feature two silicon squares combined into a single component, which boosts performance significantly, claims the company. These chips are 30 times faster than Nvidia's previous models, particularly in tasks like responding to queries from AI-driven tools such as chatbots. The innovation in Nvidia's architecture represents a major leap in processing power, reinforcing the chip major's leadership in high-performance computing and AI solutions.

According to Statista, the 2024 global graphics processing unit (GPU) market is valued at $65.3 billion, and forecast to rise to $274.2 billion by 2029, growing at a CAGR of 33.2%.
