Indian rupee opens at 64.03 per dollar; slips 11 paise

Expect rupee to trade in the range of 63.80-63.95/dollar today, says NS Venkatesh of IDBI Bank.

The Indian rupee fell in the early trade on Wednesday. It opened lower by 11 paise at 64.03 per dollar versus 63.92 Tuesday.

However, yeaterday it closed with a gain of 16 paise against previous closing of 64.08.

The dollar steadies helped by a rise in US bond yields and expectations that a Federal Reserve interest rate hike may come as early as September.

NS Venkatesh of IDBI Bank said, "The rupee showed signs of strengthening versus the dollar. The dollar weakness against other currencies was further pushed due to dollar selling by custodial banks and exporters."

"Expect rupee to trade in the range of 63.80-63.95/dollar today," he added.
