Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty 50 are likely to open on positive note on October 14, tracking cues from GIFT Nifty trading around 25,085.5, a short while ago this morning.

In yet another rangebound session, the Indian equity indices ended lower with Nifty at around 24,950 on October 11.

At close, the Sensex was down 230.05 points or 0.28 percent at 81,381.36, and the Nifty was down 34.20 points or 0.14 percent at 24,964.30.

GIFT Nifty (Up)

The GIFT Nifty is trading higher, indicating a positive start for the day. Nifty futures were trading at 25,085.5 at 07:00 am IST.

Asian Equities (Mixed)

Among Asian markets Japanese markets shut on account of a holiday, while Taiwan markets slipped 0.5 percent, while Kospi market added 0.5 percent.

US Equities (Gain)

The S&P 500 and the Dow scored record closing highs on Friday, with the big boosts from financial stocks after banks reported strong quarterly results while the latest inflation data fueled expectations for a U.S. Federal Reserve rate cut in November.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 409.74 points, or 0.97%, to 42,863.86, the S&P 500 gained 34.98 points, or 0.61%, to 5,815.03 and the Nasdaq Composite gained 60.89 points, or 0.33%, to 18,342.94.

US Bond Yield (Flat)

The US 10-year Treasury yield and US 2-year bond yield were trading ahead of holiday at US markets.

Dollar Index (Up)

The dollar extended its gains in early Monday trades in Asia as a holiday in Japan sapped liquidity, leaving China's somewhat disappointing weekend stimulus announcements the focus of market attention.

Oil prices fell by more than USD 1 a barrel, losing over 1.5% in early trading on Monday, after disappointing Chinese inflation data and a lack of clarity on Beijing's economic stimulus plans stoked fears about demand.

The foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold equities worth Rs 4,162 crore on October 11, on the other hand, domestic institutional investors bought equities worth Rs 3730 crore on the same day.
