First Tick: Top 10 global cues for today’s trade

The GIFT Nifty is indicating a flat to negative start for the day.

As per the changes, the NSE will retain only one tradable index — the Nifty 50 — for weekly derivatives contracts.

Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty 50 are likely to open on flat to negative note on October 11, tracking cues from GIFT Nifty trading around 25,084, a short while ago this morning.

Indian benchmark indices again failed to hold the higher (intraday) levels and ended with marginal gains in the rangebound session on October 10 with Nifty closing in green but below 25,000, led by gains in metal and banking stocks.

At close, the Sensex was up 144.31 points or 0.18 percent at 81,611.41, and the Nifty was up 16.50 points or 0.07 percent at 24,998.50.

GIFT Nifty (Down)

The GIFT Nifty is trading marginally lower, indicating a flat to negative start for the day. Nifty futures were trading at 25,084 at 07:00 am IST.

Asian Equities (Gain)

Asian markets trade higher, breaking ranks with Wall Street's overnight session which saw key benchmarks slide as investors digested a sticky U.S. inflation report.

Wall Street's main indexes closed lower on Thursday as investors looked to higher-than-expected inflation and unemployment claims for indications on the health of the U.S. economy and the path for interest rates.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 57.88 points, or 0.14%, to 42,454.12, the S&P 500 lost 11.99 points, or 0.21%, to 5,780.05 and the Nasdaq Composite lost 9.57 points, or 0.05%, to 18,282.05.

US Bond Yield (Flat)

The US 10-year Treasury yield was flat at 4.06 percent, while the US 2-year bond yield fell 16 bps at 3.95 percent.

Dollar Index (Down)

The U.S. dollar fell from two-month highs hit overnight versus its major peers after signs of weakness in the labour market boosted the case for quicker Federal Reserve rate cuts.

Oil eased on Friday after a rally the previous day, but prices remained set for a second straight weekly gain as investors weighed the impact of hurricane damage on U.S. demand against any broad supply disruption if Israel attacks Iranian oil sites.

Gold prices trading marginally higher around USD 2634, while Silver prices was down 0.2 percent at USD 31 in the early trade on Friday.

Fund Flow Action

The foreign institutional investors (FIIs) extended their selling on October 10 as they sold equities worth Rs 4,926 crore, on the other hand, domestic institutional investors also extended their buying as they bought equities worth Rs 3,878 crore on the same day.
