Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty 50 are likely to open on a negative note on December 13, tracking cues from GIFT Nifty trading around 24,557, a short while ago this morning.

The Indian benchmark indices ended lower on December 12 with Nifty around 24,550 amid selling across the sectors and ahead of retail inflation data outcome later today, and Friday’s WPI inflation data.

At close, the Sensex was down 236.18 points or 0.29 percent at 81,289.96, and the Nifty was down 93.10 points or 0.38 percent at 24,548.70.

The GIFT Nifty is trading lower, indicating a weak start for the day. Nifty futures were trading at 24,557 at 07:00 am IST.

Asian equities fell Friday as investors reined in appetite for risk ahead of next week’s Federal Reserve policy meeting.

Wall Street pulled back on Thursday as investors evaluated key economic indicators ahead of the Federal Reserve's meeting next week.

A Thursday Labor Department report showed U.S. producer prices rose more than forecast in November, though a moderation in service costs pointed to a continuation of the broader disinflationary trend. Initial claims for U.S. unemployment benefits unexpectedly climbed last week, raising concerns about labor-market resilience.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 234.44 points, or 0.53%, to 43,914.12, the S&P 500 lost 32.94 points, or 0.54%, to 6,051.25 and the Nasdaq Composite lost 132.05 points, or 0.66%, to 19,902.84.

US Bond Yield (Down)

The US 10-Year Treasury slipped 23 basis points at 4.32 percent, while 2-Year Treasury was down 15 basis points at 4.18 percent in the early trade on Friday.

Dollar Index (Up)

The dollar rose to a 2 1/2-week high against major peers on Friday, on track for its best week in a month, amid bets that the Federal Reserve would cut interest rates next week but then take a patient approach to further reductions.
