Quant bearish on India

Here are experts equity calls for the day on how the markets are expected to trade:

Biju Samuel, Quant: We have been bearish on India over the last 2 months and we continue to be so in light of the bearish contagion spreading to other EMs. Our projection for a climactic low for this swing was around 5300. Our long term hypothesis is that India is in a long-term weak phase and will have multiple downlegs. This means that one has to move in and out with dexterity to generate any alpha from the market.

Markus Rosgen, Citigroup: EM funds have seen redemptions of USD 7 billion this week after USD 3 billion last week. In dollar terms this is the 3rd largest weekly outflow since January 2008. We continue to see rotation from EMs to developed markets as global international funds have seen cumulative inflows of USD 9 billion since January 2011.
