India's urban unemployment rate declined to 6.4% in July-September: PLFS

Labour Force Participation Rate in urban areas among persons of age 15 years and above has increased from 49.3 percent during July to September, 2023 to 50.4 percent in the same period in 2024-25

The Periodic Labour Force Survey's (PLFS) quarterly bulletin for the period July-September was released on November 18

India's unemployment rate in urban areas among persons aged 15 years and above decreased to 6.4 percent during July to September 2024 from 6.6 percent in the same quarter last fiscal.

While, unemployment among urban males declined to 5.7 percent in the second quarter of the current financial year from 6.0 percent during July to September, 2023, among women, joblessness witnessed a relatively smaller dip of 8.4 percent versus 8.6 percent.

This data is as per the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation Periodic Labour Force Survey's (PLFS) quarterly bulletin for the period July-September.

Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR) in urban areas among persons of age 15 years and above has increased from 49.3 percent during July to September, 2023 to 50.4 percent in the same period in 2024-25.

On a year-on-year basis, LFPR among men of age 15 years and above in urban areas increased to 75 percent during this period, while among females, it rose to 25.5 percent.
