Eros profit rises; positive on outlook

Indian movie distributor Eros International Plc said its full-year profit rose, boosted by the box office success of Bollywood films "Dabangg" (Dauntless) and "Housefull".

Indian movie distributor Eros International Plc said its full-year profit rose, boosted by the box office success of Bollywood films "Dabangg" (Dauntless) and "Housefull".


The company, which recently listed its unit Eros International Media on the Bombay Stock Exchange in India, also gave a positive outlook for the year ahead.


Eros boasts of a strong slate of movies that include "RA One", staring A-listers Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor, and "Rockstar", featuring actor Ranbir Kapoor.


Pretax profit was up USD 55.8 million for the year ended March 31, compared with last year's USD 49.5 million.


Revenue rose 10% to USD 164.6 million.


Eros releases over 70 films every year and has a library of over 2,000 film titles.


Shares of the company rose almost 1% to 227 pence at 0705 GMT on Tuesday on the London Stock Exchange.
