TV18’s TV News business Q4 revenue jumps 28% on-year, supported by ad rates, viewership

TV18 Broadcast Ltd's TV News business has reported a substantial 28 percent on-year surge in revenue for the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2023-24. The company reported that its revenue for Q4 FY24 stood at Rs 461 crore, a notable jump from the Rs 360 crore recorded for the same period in FY23.

For the full fiscal year 2023-24, the revenue totaled Rs 1,556 crore, marking a significant uptick from the Rs 1,252 crore reported in FY23. The network's ability to consistently enhance its advertisement rates, fueled by a robust viewership, has been a key driver behind its financial success.

The strong financial performance of TV18’s News business demonstrates its readiness to leverage a strong operating position in the election season, the company said in a statement.

With an expansive reach, the TV news network continues to engage with an impressive 175 million viewers across the country on a weekly basis.

The network continued to command leadership positions across various key markets. CNBC-TV18 emerged as the leading business channel with an impressive 64.3 percent viewership share. Similarly, News18 India secured the top spot among Hindi news channels during evening primetime, capturing a notable 14.0 percent share. CNN-News18 maintained its stronghold as the foremost English news channel for over two years, commanding a substantial 33.3 percent viewership share.

In addition to its national presence, the network has maintained leadership positions in four crucial regional markets, including UP/Uttarakhand, Bihar/Jharkhand, Gujarat, and Jammu/Kashmir/Ladakh/Himachal.

Furthermore, channels in West Bengal, Rajasthan, and Punjab/Haryana have showcased robust performances as strong second-place contenders.
Improvements in rankings were seen across various regional channels. Notably, News18 Bangla witnessed a significant improvement in its ranking, while News18 Lokmat has solidified its position as a formidable third-place player.

Further, the company's digital news segment also witnessed remarkable growth. In Q4, the digital news business posted a total revenue of Rs 131 crore, marking a substantial 40 percent increase compared to Rs 94 crore recorded for the same quarter in FY23. For the full fiscal year, the digital news business saw revenues touch Rs 425 crore, up from Rs 356 crore in FY23.

Moneycontrol maintained its lead as the top digital news publisher, with over 180 million unique monthly visitors and 7.5 lakh paid subscribers for Moneycontrol Pro. News18.com expanded coverage and user features, while Firstpost's revamped website drove a 70 percent increase in YouTube views.
