The Titagarh Wagons has been buzzing a bit lately with a 15 percent gain so far this month. In an interview to CNBC-TV18, Umesh Chowdhary, VC & MD of the company spoke about the latest happenings in his company and sector.

The buzz that we hear from the railways is that the railways have enhanced their freight loading target and the wagon tender that was floated for about 9,500 is going to be finalised in a matter of days, he said.

They are also anticipating some enhancement of wagon offtakes in order to take care of their enhanced target. There is no confirmed report that we have from the railways or officially they have not communicated that to us, he added.

On dedicated freight corridor, he said that in the first half of 2018, the government will have to start planning and induction and ordering of the rolling stock.

A lot of private sector demands for wagons have started coming in, said Chowdhary.

On the freight side of the business, whether from the railways or from the private sector, there has been a lot of traction that we have seen over the last couple of months, he further mentioned.

“We are expecting between 20 percent and 25 percent between Titagarh and Cimmco of the total order,” he said.
