Dairy major Amul will set up an ice-cream manufacturing facility at Khed, near Pune, at an investment of Rs 120 crore.
"Pune is our largest market for Amul ice-cream and currently there is a supply shortage. We wanted a quick set up in and around Pune, and have got around 11 acres land in Khed for our new dairy plant," Amul Dairy Managing Director K Rathnam said in a statement.
"The facility is planned to commence its operation in 12 to 18 months with an estimated investment of over Rs 120 crore," Rathnam added.
Amul, which signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Khed Economic Infrastructure on July 30, will manufacture ice-cream and other milk products at the facility.
