New Foreign Trade Policy likely by July 2011: Sources

India's Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) is set for an overhaul, reports CNBC-TV18 quoting government sources. The new policy will have a holistic approach towards exports. It is likely to come by July 2011.

India's Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) is set for an overhaul, reports CNBC-TV18 quoting government sources. The new policy will have a holistic approach towards exports. It is likely to come by July 2011.


Sources say the new policy will rejig export incentive schemes and boost investment in export related production. Improving export infrastructure will be the focus area of new policy along with encouraging foreign investment in input and machinery for export goods. There could be a duty waiver for imported input and machinery for export good.

The Commerce Ministry will release a paper on its export strategy in a week. The strategy paper will be the basis for the policy overhaul. It will be aimed to double India
