SC directs RCom to deposit 50% of hiked spectrum fee

The Supreme Court has directed two Anil Ambani group firms Reliance Communications and Reliance Telecom to deposit 50% of the increased spectrum usage charge demanded by DoT, reports PTI.

The Supreme Court has directed two Anil Ambani group firms Reliance Communications and Reliance Telecom to deposit 50% of the increased spectrum usage charge demanded by DoT, reports PTI. Along with deposit, the court has also asked the companies to submit a bank guarantee for the rest within two weeks, the report said.


A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice S H Kapadia also issued notice to DoT directing it to file reply over enhancing spectrum usage charge. Meanwhile, the report said, the apex court has directed to tag the RComm and R Tel's plea with the other telecom operators, which have challenged DoT's increasing the usage charges 3-8% of adjusted gross revenue, subject to quantum of spectrum held by an operator.
