Domestic carriers flew 45.75 lakh passenger in the month of February this year registering an increase of 18.45% over last year during the same period, with Jet Airways and JetLite combine emerging as the market leader.

During the month, Jet Airways had a market share of 18% while JetLite had 8.1%.

Kingfisher had a market share of 19% followed by the Delhi-based no frill airline, IndiGo, which reported a market share of 18.7%, the latest data released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) shows.

Air India (domestic) reported a market share of 15.8%.

While the number of passengers flown in February this year is more than the previous year, it is less than the 49.36 lakh passengers in January this year.

The marginal decrease in number of passengers flown in February as compared to the previous month was primarily due to end of peak season, the DGCA statement adds.

National carrier Air India, Kingfisher, low-cost carrier SpiceJet and IndiGo witnessed a drop in their seat load factor for the month of February against January this year, while Jet Airways, JetLite and Go Air has registered an increase in their load factor.
