Centre to provide long-term interest-free loans to promote iconic tourist centers: FM Sitharaman

This is the sixth consecutive year when Sitharaman is presenting the budget, which is an interim budget as it comes months ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, on February 1, announced that the government will provide long-term interest-free loans to states to promote iconic tourist sites.

“State will be encouraged to take up comprehensive development of iconic tourist centers. Government to provide long-term interest-free loans to promote iconic tourist centers,” Sitharaman said in her Budget 2024 speech.

Siddhesh Mehta, Research Analyst, Samco Securities said that this financial initiative, featuring low to nil interest rates, aims to scale up the private sector's research and development efforts significantly in sunrise domains. "Notably, this infusion is set to fortify deep tech technologies," he said.
