BJP's national president JP Nadda said that Apple iPhones will be manufactured in Karnataka soon and that chief minister Bommai has spoken with contract manufacturer Foxconn about this.
He was addressing a public meeting in Bengaluru as the ruling party is leaving no stone unturned to win the state assembly elections.
Taking aim at opposition Congress, he said that voting for the JD(S) means voting for Congress and voting for Congress means voting for corruption.
Nadda hailed the development in the state and said that it is at number one position in the field of innovation and it is one of the best-performing states in startup ranking.
The BJP is using the proposed investment by Foxconn to showcase its pro-development approach. Chief minister Bommai had said that the investment will create one lakh jobs for people.
Foxconn chairman Liu wrote to Karnataka CM Bommai assuring him of taking forward the proposed manufacturing plant in the state.
"My team will be in close contact with your team to take this forward and ensure successful grounding of 'Project Elephant' in Bengaluru. I am confident that this project will lay a strong foundation for our other multiple plans, spanning mechanical/precision machinery, electric vehicle, IC design & semiconductor segments to consider your State as a potential investment destination," Liu said.
This comes after Foxconn denied any definitive, binding agreement was signed in Liu's recent visit.
