  • Peace lilies need warmth, humidity, and indirect light to bloom.
  • Water when topsoil is dry; avoid overwatering or underwatering.
  • Use balanced fertilizer and repot regularly for healthy growth.

Peace lilies are beautiful plants that most people prefer for their serene white blooms and glossy leaves. While they are relatively low-maintenance, their failure to produce blooms consistently is a common concern many face.

After plants typically mature, which is in about 1-3 years, they are expected to bloom twice. But if that doesn’t happen in your case, there are some factors you should look into.

Ideal growing environment for Peace Lilies

It is a tropical plant that loves warmth and humidity. Ensuring there is an ideal amount of it (around 50 per cent) helps. The most suitable temperature range should be between 18°C and 27°C. While its growth is slow in winter, its care and environmental conditions shouldn’t be overlooked. It’s best to keep them away from both heat sources and cold air.

Tips to care for Peace Lilies

To ensure they bloom frequently, it is important to pay attention to these four factors and take care of them.

Ideal lighting conditions

Peace Lilies thrive in bright, indirect light. While they can tolerate low light, it affects their leaves and growth and delays flowering. Too much light can scorch the leaves. They prefer filtered light, so placing them by a sunny window with sheer curtains or blinds works best.

Watering requirements

Watering Peace Lilies can be tricky, as overwatering can turn their leaves yellow, and underwatering can result in dry, frail leaves. So water when the top two inches of the soil are dry to touch. Ensuring adequate water makes the plant bloom adequately without struggle.

Proper nutrients

If you want your plant to be sturdy, healthy, and blooming, regular feeding is required. Peace Lilies should be fed with a well-balanced houseplant fertiliser, especially during the growing season. This will result in broader leaves and more frequent flowers.

Timely repotting

Peace Lilies need to be repotted regularly for healthy growth. When root growth becomes apparent, it is advisable to move the plant to a slightly larger pot and add fresh potting soil. This will help promote adequate blooms.
