President of European Commission Ursula von der Leyen has impressed us with our sartorial pick once again. She is on a 4-day visit to India ahead of India-EU summit. It was On the day of signing a free trade agreement, Ursula wore Indian designer Anamika Khanna's outfit.
An impeccably-tailored blue bandhgala, she paired it with a kurta, a pair of ivory straight pants and beige stilettos. We absolutely loved the colour combination of blue and ivory. One can also see resham embroidery work, lace work and 3D detailing on the cuffs and neck of the bandhgala which only adds to the glam quotient.
Designer Anamika Khanna wrote, "EU Chief Ursula von der Leyen wore Anamika Khanna Couture as she arrived at Hyderabad House in New Delhi, ahead of a landmark India–EU trade deal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted European Council President António Costa and the European Commission President, as leaders posed for photographs before talks on what von der Leyen described as the “mother of all deals.”
If you scan Ursula's images to identify her style sense, you will realise that she is big on well-tailored pantsuits. On a seminal occasion like this, she chose to wear a bandhgala, a timeless and formal outfit that can never go wrong.
Sunil Sethi, chairman of the Fashion Design Council of India, said in a statement, "It fills us with immense pride to witness European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen donning the creations of Indian designers for such a historic visit to India. Her choice was not just a statement of style, but a homage to the extraordinary talent of Indian craftsmen and weavers, whose artistry tells the story of our heritage on the world stage."
For 77th Republic Day parade, Ursula had worn a maroon and golden hue brocade banarasi silk jacket with off-white pants. It was from designer Rajesh Pratap Singh.
