What Zohran Mamdani wore at swearing-in ceremony

Mamdani and his wife Rama Duwaji's sartorial choices for the event has become a talking point for obvious reasons. It was interesting to see Mamdani is a black velvet suit over which he threw a long jacket to beat the chill. The white shirt that he wore beneath lend him a prim and proper look. It was Mamdani's tie that caught the attention of many. It is actually from a Delhi-based designer's label called Kartik Research. The herringbone tie featured small gold four-petal flowers. Also, the fabric of the tie is eri silk fabric and it has been sourced from Assam.

What Rama Duwaji wore at swearing-in ceremony

Mamdani's wife Rama Duwaji, who is an illustrator and artist, too made a statement with her sartorial selection. She wore a brown coat by Palestinian-Lebanese designer Cynthia Merhej of the brand Renaissance Renaissance. The coat featured a three-tiered fringe pattern. To pair it with, she chose to wear a knee-length skirt and lace-up boots. To round off the look in absolute style, she sported her signature winged eyeliner look and threw on a pair of gold earrings.

Can you guess the price of Duwaji's boots?

A lot of chatter is also happening around the black pair of boots that Duwaji wore on the swearing-in ceremony. Apparently, the boots are from a brand called 'Miista' and they cost around $600. The boots are said to be crafted from 'vegetable tan cow leather' and come with ultra-cushioned memory foam insole. Duwaji has received some degree of flak for wearing such expensive boots.

“Mamdani’s ‘affordability agenda’ is a scam. His wife parades in $600 Miista boots while he pushes rent freezes that’ll collapse housing stock. They’re moving into Gracie Mansion to dodge the chaos their policies create,” @CityDeskNYC tweeted on January 1.
