The sight of burnt and greasy kitchen utensils after cooking is not uncommon, especially in Indian households. While cleaning them may look like an uphill task, it really isn’t that difficult. Many simple kitchen ingredients available at home do the job efficiently, making your utensils look as good as new. Here are some cleaning methods to help you remove stubborn stains within minutes.

Lemon Juice and Salt

One of the most efficient ways of cleaning burnt vessels is by applying lemon and salt. Lemon contains citric acid which breaks down tough stains and together with salt, it helps clean utensils. Cut a fresh lemon juice and squeeze the juice onto the burnt parts. Sprinkle some salt and keep it for 20-30 minutes. Use a scrub to clean the surface and rinse thoroughly.

Baking Soda and Salt

When it comes to cleaning greasy utensils, nothing works better than baking soda and salt. They act as a scrubber for cleaning stains and grease. Coat the utensil with a layer of baking soda and add a little salt. Rub the mixture on the burnt areas with a sponge. Keep it for 30 minutes, then scrub and rinse thoroughly.

Coconut Husk and Vinegar

To remove stubborn stains, soak the coconut husk fibre in undiluted vinegar. You may add baking soda and washing soap to increase its effectiveness. Scrub the soaked fibre on the burnt or affected areas and let it rest for 30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and see the results for yourself.

Vegetable Oil

Vegetable oil can be used to clean greasy and tough stains by combining it with lemon juice, salt and sugar. Take hot vegetable oil, add the rest of the ingredients, and apply it on the burnt vessel. Let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing it off thoroughly.

Aerated Drinks

Aerated drinks can help clean stains on utensils as their acidity and fizziness help dissolve grease and stains. While using cola may not be suitable for its sugar content, soda and sparkling water works as best alternatives. Pour an aerated drink on the burnt areas or tough stains. Scrub with a non-abrasive sponge and rinse thoroughly.
