  • Low-carb diets and detox teas are not effective for weight loss
  • Focus on calorie deficit, protein, fiber, sleep, and steps
  • 7-8 hours of quality sleep aids weight loss and recovery

It is a common perception that weight loss requires you to be on a low-carb diet and detox teas. This is far from true. What it requires is smart moves like including enough nutrition, plenty of rest, and adequate steps. Focusing on these is far more important than cutting carbs and adding miracle concoctions to your diet.

Tamannaah Bhatia’s fitness trainer Siddhartha Singh took to his Instagram account and explained how the right swaps can help you lose and sustain weight the right way. In his new post, he called out “fitness trends” that you should stop following in 2026. Take a look!

Low-carb diets

If you are someone who believes that eliminating carbs can help, Bhatia’s trainer quashed the claim. He said, “The real problem is you will probably lose weight very fast, but your hormones will crash and cravings will kill you literally. Instead, do a calorie deficit, enjoy your carbs, and eat a lot of protein.” This is more sustainable and sure to help you in the long run.

Detox teas

In desperation, many people resort to magical concoctions and drinks to shed weight faster. But the truth is, it doesn’t work like that. The fitness trainer explained, “There is no tea or supplement in the world that can detox you. Companies are making a fool out of you and taking away money from you. Instead focus on fibre, protein, sleep, and steps, and ditch these teas.”

Poor sleep

Sleep is often overlooked when it comes to weight loss, even though it plays a crucial role in restoring balance in the body and recovery. Singh pointed out, “If your sleep is poor, it is going to increase cravings and slow down recovery. In turn, this will lead to more fat storage in your body. So instead, 7 to 8 hours of unquestionable, unconditional sleep is what you want to do in 2026.”

While you might want to focus on maintaining the right balance, it is also important to exercise and be consistent with your walking routine for weight loss and overall fitness.
