Breakfast is considered the most important meal of the day, as it helps us stay energised and productive for long hours. In summer, the focus should not just be on nutrient-dense foods, but also on hydration and cooling fruits and beverages. These help look after your skin, hair, and gut health.
In her new post on Instagram, nutritionist Kiran Kukreja shared five summer breakfast options that are healthy and even suitable for those on a weight-loss programme. The foods she recommended have a direct influence on your gut, which in turn affects your skin and hair health.

Kiran highly recommended fermented curd rice. “It feeds your gut with natural probiotics, making digestion smoother, the body cooler, and your gut happier for the rest of the day,” she said. It provides 230 to 250 kcal and about 13 to 15 grams of protein.
It is a treat for those who love savoury pancakes. According to the nutritionist, jowar (sorghum) and besan (gram flour) chilla is best for breakfast because it is balanced, nourishing and keeps you full for long. This helps give you steady morning energy, and also offers 350 to 370 kcal and 18 to 19 grams of protein.

Top it with some roasted nuts and seeds, and it makes for a super-filling, nutrient-rich breakfast that feels light but keeps you satisfied for hours.”
Nothing better than a chocolate smoothie bowl to kickstart your day. It provides 30 grams of protein and is packed with antioxidants, fibre, and healthy fats.
