Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, who has faced a series of setbacks at the box office recently, once addressed criticism regarding his work hours, defending his approach to balancing efficiency with discipline. Akshay, known for his strict adherence to an eight-hour workday, clarified that while he limits his time on set, he ensures maximum productivity within those hours.
He emphasized his reputation as a 'producer's man,' dedicated to completing projects on schedule, and cited Tom Cruise's work on the latest Mission: Impossible film as a benchmark for efficiency, mentioning that Cruise shot his scenes in just 55 days.
In a past interview with Galatta Plus, Akshay explained, "See, I work eight hours a day. I personally feel, you’re in front of the camera, the camera catches each and every pore. After eight hours, the body gets tired. There are only 24 hours; you need eight hours of sleep. I lead a very disciplined life. Your body requires eight hours of sleep, you need two hours to eat, you need two hours of workout, you need some hours to spend with your family."
Akshay further stressed that during the eight hours he's on set, he is completely focused on his work. "Once I’m on set, I just want to be there till the director says pack-up, unless I want to go to the washroom.” Quoting an example, Akshay said, "There is a film called Mission: Impossible. It’s one of the best action films, made by Tom Cruise. How many days do you think he shot for it?” He soon said, “55 days." He further added, "The shooting goes on with duplicates."
