Glee star Chris Colfer’s beloved children’s book series The Land of Stories is officially being adapted into a live-action film.
According to reports by Deadline, the bestselling series' rights have been purchased by Hollywood studio Warner Bros., and Phil Johnston has been chosen to helm the adaptation.
The fantasy series centres on Alex and Conner Bailey, twins who are grieving over the death of their father when they are abruptly taken to a magical book that brings beloved fairy tales to life.
The saga began with The Wishing Spell in 2012 and expanded to include five more titles, along with several prequel books authored by Colfer.
The upcoming film will be produced by Chris Colfer himself along with Emma Watts, while Rob Weisbach will serve as executive producer.
Colfer was originally slated to write and direct a feature adaptation of the series for 20th Century Fox in association with Shawn Levy's 21 Laps, as The Hollywood Reporter reported in 2017.
Colfer is well-known for his iconic portrayal of Kurt Hummel on Glee, for which he received a Golden Globe, two Primetime Emmy nominations, and a Grammy nomination.
