The most eagerly anticipated and entertaining trailer of the year for Disney+ Hotstar's twin drama series, Hotstar Specials' 'Bad Cop,' features Gulshan Devaiah in a double role. The series is produced by Fremantle India, directed by Aditya Datt, written by Rensil D'Silva, and will be available exclusively for streaming on the platform beginning June 21, 2024. Terrible Cop has been reconsidered for India by Fremantle India from RTL's unique German show of a similar name.
Flexible entertainer Gulshan Devaiah quickly ventures into the twofold job of twins Karan and Arjun, who are total inverses and pick their very own way. Arjun, a witty thief, and Karan, a powerful cop, discover that their fates are intertwined in the most unexpected way, altering their lives forever. We are left wanting more when Anurag Kashyap plays Kazbe Mama, a deadly, manipulative, and lethal character. Harleen Sethi plays Devika, a decent police officer. Saurabh Sachdeva and Aishwarya Sushmita star in critical jobs in this spine chiller.
What transpires when fate meets destiny and Karan and Arjun become involved in a series of occurrences that forever alter their lives?
Fremantle India's Managing Director Aradhana Bhola stated, "We are excited to share with the audiences our very first drama web series "Bad Cop." As we shared the logline of this RTL format with the Disney+ Hotstar team, everyone, including the writer Rensil D'Silva, the leading actors, and the director Aditya Datt, was struck by this intriguing yet quirky twin drama. Rensil gave us a fantastic Indian take on the original story, and Aditya brought it all to life with his razor-sharp commercial and action lens. The lead cast, which included Gulshan, Harleen, Anurag, and Saurabh, each added their own unique magic to the characters while pushing the boundaries of their roles. We hope the audience enjoys this as much as we enjoyed creating it.
Director Aditya Datt said, "Bad Cop is like your original cult masala stories with a captivating storyline, a deadly villain, and your hero in a double role." when discussing the series. When I was working on Bad Cop with Rensil, Aradhana, and the Fremantle India team, I knew this would be our hook because I have always been a huge fan of twin dramas. We have planned the activity and pursue groupings without any preparation and have wanted to give the crowds an awesome review insight. We wanted to give the story a realistic feel with actors like Anurag, Gulshan, Harleen, and Saurabh. They are all actors from very different cinematic traditions, and nothing else can match what they bring to the table. I hope this one goes over well with the audience.
Anurag Kashyap said of the series and his character: "Kazbe mama is a one-of-a-kind villain." His aura is simultaneously deadly and charismatic. I was terrified and distrustful while going for gore scenes; in contrast to my films. Kazbe is strong, hard-hitting and I drew qualities from a significant number of the negative characters that I had made, to get ready for this job. Fremantle India and Aditya are extraordinary teammates and this show has exposed a totally different side of me. In fact, I was inspired by Nana Patekar from Parinda and Irrfan Khan from Haasil for Kazbe. I had no process. I take the content just before I shoot it and the discourse essayist would help me how to move toward it. It's therapeutic for me to play a negative person and I remove everything from my framework. I hope the public likes me in this avatar.
"Bad Cop is a thrilling story that doesn't pretend to be anything else but entertaining," stated Gulshan Devaiah. The characters I was required to play were what most intrigued me about the script. Arjun and Karan are identical twins who have very different personalities and are both criminals and police officers, respectively. I am overjoyed that Fremantle India and Disney+ Hotstar provided me with this opportunity to play twin brothers once more. Karan and Arjun albeit twin siblings have an exceptionally restrained standpoint towards life and are managing totally different relational issues. Their fate is linked by a big twist, and I think that was the most difficult part of playing the characters because I had to do a lot of action scenes, which I'll admit was not easy at all. I needed to get my body and mind ready first. I truly hope the general public enjoys playing the twins in Bad Cop, which has been the most amazing experience of my career up to this point.
According to Harleen Sethi, "I was skeptical about taking it on when I was first approached for the role of Devika, but right in the middle of the shooting schedule I realised I’m so glad I didn't let this opportunity pass." Devika embodies everything a woman could hope for: She is powerful, savage, witty, and resilient. She fights for what is right in her personal life and believes that she is not less than or more powerful than anyone in her environment. She stands her ground in the male-ruled police labor force and has an unmistakable vision for what she needs. She is torn between maintaining a work-life balance and getting married to Karan, which has a domino effect on her surroundings. I had a wonderful time working with Gulshan Devaiah, Saurabh Sachdeva, and Anurag Kashyap under the direction of Aditya Datt sir. The best part was that I was able to perform action sequences, which had always been my dream. Additionally, it was extraordinary teaming up with Disney+ Hotstar and Fremantle India."
