Stree 2 box office collection day 5: Rajkummar Rao starrer earns Rs 220 crore total, becomes Shraddha Kapoor's highest-grossing movie

The highly anticipated horror-comedy sequel, ‘Stree 2’, has taken the Bollywood box office by storm, quickly ascending to become the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2024. On its fourth day of release, the film surpassed the total earnings of her previous hits, ‘Chhichhore’ (Rs 153 crores net), ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar’ (Rs 147 crores net), and ‘Saaho’ (Rs 145 crores net). This makes ‘Stree 2’ Kapoor’s highest-grossing film in the Hindi language.

This feat is particularly noteworthy as it marks Kapoor’s seventh movie to cross the Rs 100 crores net mark and her first to breach the Rs 200 crores barrier domestically. The film’s success cements her status as one of Bollywood’s most bankable stars.

As of its fifth day, ‘Stree 2’ has already become the 31st biggest grosser in the history of Hindi cinema. Given its current trajectory, the film is expected to enter the top 25 by Tuesday, further solidifying its place in Bollywood history.

In the larger context of the 2024 Hindi box office, ‘Stree 2’ now stands as the second biggest grosser of the year, trailing only behind the massive success of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, which has amassed over Rs 293 crores net.

However, with the continued positive reception and strong word-of-mouth, industry analysts predict that ‘Stree 2’ may close the gap in the coming weeks.
