Shweta Tiwari, a star of Indian television, rose to prominence for her portrayal of Prerna in Kasautii Zindagii Kay. Over the years she worked in numerous television serials and reality shows thus making her one of the top-tier television actresses as well as earning her a place among the industry's highest-paid performers.

In an interview with News18's Showsha, the former Bigg Boss winner revealed her experience as Prerna in Kasautii Zindagii Kay and also shed light on the significant earnings she garnered during her time on the hit television series.

Despite not being a big star initially, she bagged the lead role of Prerna in the show in 2000. Starting at a modest Rs. 5,000 per day, her salary soared alongside the show's skyrocketing TRPs.

Over eight years, she secured annual raises and by the time the show came to an end, she was earning 2.25 lakh per day in 2008. This solidified her place as a television powerhouse in the industry.

While Shweta Tiwari expressed gratitude to Ekta Kapoor, the producer behind Kasautii Zindagii Kay for her unwavering support, she also criticized the current trend in the television industry. In her view, producers today prioritize factors other than actors, leading to low wages. This, she feels, discourages established actors from returning to television. Shweta herself has rejected multiple projects due to this very reason.

The talented actress is known for her work in television series like Mere Dad Ki Dulhan, Parvarrish – Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi, Begusarai. She has also participated in reality shows like Khatron ke Khiladi and Bigg Boss S4.
