Rihanna channels Smurfette in blue as she attends The Smurfs Movie world premiere in Brussels

Rihanna and ASAP Rocky have recently made a stylish appearance in Brussels, the birthplace of the Smurfs, at the world premiere of The Smurfs Movie. The songstress sported a Smurf blue look as she entered the Smurf wonderland.

Global superstar Rihanna leads the way as the voice of Smurfette, while also taking on the role of producer and contributing to the film’s soundtrack. The pop sensation teased about the film, calling it ‘hilarious’ and ‘fun’.

During the premiere, Rihanna said, “It’s hilarious! It’s fun. The whole movie has a great sense of humour. It’s very nostalgic for people who grew up on the Smurfs. Smurfs was such a huge part of my childhood, and to know that my kids are going to have that moment too... that's exciting.”

The film marks a lively comeback for the Smurfs, combining live-action and animation in a heartwarming and humorous tale. Directed by Chris Miller, who is also behind Shrek the Third, The Lego Movie, the upcoming animated film features a stellar voice cast including James Corden, Dan Levy, Amy Sedaris, and Nick Offerman.

The film is based on the original creation by Peyo and follows the afterwards of Papa Smurf, voiced by John Goodman, mysteriously captured by the evil wizards Razamel and Gargamel.

Smurfette (voiced by Rihanna) leads the Smurfs on a daring mission into the real world to rescue Papa Smurf. However, the Smurfs have joined new allies in their adventure. They embark on a mission to discover what defines their destiny in order to save the universe from chaos.

This upcoming film promises to deliver the magic of the Smurfs while introducing exciting new challenges and Smurfy adventures. The Smurfs will hit the theatres on July 18, 2025, in English and Hindi.
