Vijay fans turn Chennai theatres into celebration zones

Chennai witnessed an electrifying response as Vijay’s fans flocked to theatres to experience Oru Pere Varalaaru, the second song from Jana Nayagan, on the big screen. The track dropped on Thursday evening, closely following Vijay’s first major public address in Erode after the Karur stampede, further heightening the buzz around both the film and the star.

Set to the music of Anirudh Ravichander, Oru Pere Varalaaru comes after the earlier release Thalapathy Kacheri and continues to frame Vijay as a mass leader. Penned by lyricist Vivek and sung by Anirudh along with Vishal Mishra, the title of the song translates to “a name that becomes history.”

The lyrical video shows Vijay immersed among the people dancing with them and taking selfies, imagery that mirrors his real-life connection with supporters at public events. The opening line, “En nenjil kudiyirukkum” (You live in my heart), a phrase often used by Vijay while addressing crowds, adds to the emotional resonance.

The song reinforces his image as a people’s champion and an agent of change, a message further amplified by producer KVN Productions through impactful on-screen captions suggesting his presence alone is enough to unsettle rivals.

The song’s release sparked celebratory scenes across several Chennai theatres. Clips shared on social media capture packed halls erupting with cheers, whistles and dance as Vijay appeared on screen.

At Murugan Cinemas, fans waved flags of Vijay’s political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, while dancing near the screen, while similar high-energy reactions were seen at venues like Ritzy Cinemas, where the crowd roared whenever “Thalapathy” appeared.

Helmed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan is widely regarded as Vijay’s last film before he formally steps into active politics with TVK. Slated for a Pongal 2026 release on January 9, the film also features Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol and Mamitha Baiju in key roles.
