Controversy around Vijay’s Jana Nayagan doesn't seem to stop soon. The film, which was already under radar, has reportedly suffered another setback. Amazon Prime, which was said to be the streaming partner of Jana Nayagan, has reportedly withdrawn a major deal. The development comes amid ongoing delays and controversies surrounding the film’s release.
As per reports, Amazon Prime had earlier acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights of Jana Nayagan. It is being said that the deal was worth Rs 120 crore. However, the platform is now believed to have cancelled the deal due to repeated delays caused by unresolved censorship issues and uncertainty over the film’s release timeline.
Jana Nayagan, which is directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, has faced difficulties in obtaining certification from the Central Board of Film Certification.
The movie was set to release on January 9, 2026, but was stopped after the censor board didn't issue certificate.
There are some scenes in the political action thriller which the CBFC had objected to and it sent the film to a revising committee for additional assessment.
The certification issues have caused considerable delays for the movie, forcing the creators to postpone the release.
Jana Nayagan holds a special place for Vijay’s fans, as it is likely to be his last film before he shifts his entire focus to politics and his party.
The actor has launched his political party, named Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, and has indicated plans to transition from cinema to public life in the coming years.
Apart from his professional life, the actor has been making headlines after his alleged affair rumours with Trisha. His wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, has filed for a divorce after 26 years of marriage citing infidelity as the reason.
