The Raja Saab, the horror-comedy headlined by Prabhas and directed by Maruthi, recorded its lowest box office earnings on Day 9 of release, according to early industry figures. The film collected an estimated Rs 3 crore on Saturday, marking a significant decline in daily collections compared with earlier days of its theatrical run.
Released nationwide during the Sankranti period, The Raja Saab opened to mixed reviews but enjoyed a strong initial turnout due to the massive star power of Prabhas. The film registered a big opening day haul and crossed notable early milestones, but momentum has since tapered sharply.
After nine days in theatres, the total India net box office collection of The Raja Saab stands at approximately Rs 136 crore. While this figure reflects a respectable sum, it is considered underwhelming given the film’s high profile and expectations attached to a Prabhas project.
Industry trackers noted that after its opening weekend, when the movie earned strong numbers, the weekday collections began to slip, and the second weekend failed to sustain the positive trend. Occupancy levels on Saturday remained modest, contributing to the lower gross.
The Raja Saab stars Prabhas in the lead, supported by Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, Boman Irani, Riddhi Kumar, and Zarina Wahab. The narrative blends elements of horror, comedy, and emotion as it follows the protagonist’s eerie journey involving supernatural revelations.
Trade analysts say the film’s box office trajectory underscores weak word-of-mouth and stiff competition from other releases during the festive season. With its total collections now plateauing, The Raja Saab faces an uphill battle to recover its production and marketing costs.
