Snapshot AI
  • Dhurandhar becomes second highest-grossing Bollywood film ever
  • Film earns Rs 1354.84 crore worldwide, sets multiple records
  • Sequel Dhurandhar 2 to release March 19, 2025

Headlined by Ranveer Singh and directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar has officially wrapped up its theatrical journey with staggering numbers that have reshaped recent box office history. The spy action thriller, which also starred Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and Sara Arjun, released only in Hindi yet managed to dominate both domestic and overseas markets.

According to Koimoi, the film collected Rs 894.49 crore net in India by the end of its run. Its India gross stands at Rs 1002.39 crore, while overseas markets contributed Rs 299.35 crore. This takes the total worldwide gross to an extraordinary Rs 1354.84 crore.

What this really means is simple. Dhurandhar is not just another blockbuster. It is now the second highest-grossing Bollywood film worldwide, standing just behind Aamir Khan’s Dangal. For a film released in a single language, without a pan-India multilingual strategy, that is a significant achievement.

The film recorded 3.6 crore footfalls, making it the most-watched Bollywood film in the post-pandemic period. Even after its digital premiere on Netflix, audiences continued to show up in cinemas, a rare phenomenon in today’s streaming-heavy environment.

During its theatrical run, Dhurandhar shattered and created multiple records. It became the highest-grossing Bollywood film ever and the highest-grossing film in Hindi cinema. It was the first Hindi film to enter the Rs 800 crore club domestically. It also emerged as the fastest Hindi film to cross Rs 500 crore in India and Rs 1000 crore worldwide.

The film dominated week after week, becoming the highest-grossing Hindi film in its second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh weeks. It also set a unique record by earning over Rs 10 crore per day for 28 consecutive days. Additionally, it registered the biggest second weekend and second week grosses in Hindi cinema history.

Another notable milestone was becoming the highest-grossing adult-certified film in India, proving that strong storytelling and mass appeal can coexist even with restrictive certifications.

With Dhurandhar now closing its chapter as an all-time mega blockbuster, the focus shifts to the sequel. Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge is scheduled for release on March 19, where Ranveer Singh’s character Hamza is set to return in a high-stakes face-off. The sequel is expected to clash with Yash’s Toxic, setting up what could be one of the biggest box office battles of the year.

For now, Dhurandhar stands tall as a benchmark in modern Hindi cinema, a reminder that when scale, star power and audience connection align, history gets rewritten.
