Santhana Prapthirasthu movie review: A fun yet sensible way to talk about a serious issue

Santhana Prapthirasthu may be a small film with limited buzz, but it arrives with a refreshingly bold theme. With Vikranth and Chandini Chowdary at its centre, the film tackles male infertility through humour rather than heaviness.

Santhana Prapthirasthu movie review

Santhana Prapthirasthu is a little movie with modest expectations that stars Vikranth and Chandini Chowdary. It has a surprisingly strong voice.

The movie is about male infertility, which isn't something that comes up very often. It chooses to be hilarious instead of serious, and that option mostly works.

The plot:

Chaitanya (Vikranth) is a bashful software engineer from Hyderabad who can't talk to ladies. This is funny because he is so quiet and observant. An accidental meeting with Kalyani (Chandini Chowdary) leads to a lovely romance that ends in marriage, even though her father doesn't want it to happen.

When Chaitanya learns that he has a very low sperm count, it changes everything for them. This revelation causes a lot of stress because Kalyani's father doesn't like it, which is bad for her.

What Works

The nicest thing about the movie is its tone. Santhana Prapthirasthu maintains within the bounds of being clean and family-friendly, even if the subject is delicate. He also employs situational humor nicely.

The comedy, especially with Muralidhar Goud as the judgmental and very amusing father-in-law, keeps you chuckling. The movie is entertaining because of his jokes, plans, and unpleasant behavior.

Abhinav Gomatam's supporting role makes things even more enjoyable, as the three of them—Vikranth, Chandini, and Muralidhar Goud—tell the story with unexpected ease. Vikranth has become a much better actor, especially when he plays a man who is very insecure and tries to disguise his condition.

Chandini is the film's emotional center, and her natural, down-to-earth acting helps the plot seem more real, even though it's primarily fun.

What doesn't

The movie is amusing, but the emotional curve doesn't come until later. The last act tries to switch gears and become more emotional, but the move is unexpected and not well thought out. The timing at the beginning is also off, with trite love beats and editing that moves too slowly in the first half.

Technical and Direction

Sunil Kashyap's soundtrack is beautiful, and the way the movie is shot is basic and clean. Sanjeev Reddy, the director, should earn credit for not making a huge deal out of a subject that is not talked about. Even while a deeper emotional investigation could have made the movie even better, his choice to employ humor makes it easier to understand.

Verdict

Santhana Prapthirasthu is a hilarious movie that deals with its subject matter carefully while keeping audiences smiling. It's still worth seeing due to the great acting and well-timed jokes, even though it doesn't have as much emotional impact.

A fantastic pick for folks who want to see a fun, uncomplicated movie over the weekend.
