Ajay Devgn’s much-anticipated film Raid 2 is off to a strong start at the box office with an impressive advance booking response. According to reports, the film has already sold over 12,000 tickets across India, collecting around Rs 42.12 lakh from pre-sales. Industry tracker Sacnilk projects that the movie is likely to have an opening day gross of around Rs 1.08 crore.
Raid 2 sees Ajay Devgn reprise his role as Amay Patnaik, the upright income tax officer from the first installment. The film is set to get competition from Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2, and Sunny Deol’s Jaat.
Raid 2 is showing strong momentum, especially in regions like Maharashtra and Delhi NCR, which have contributed the maximum to advance bookings. Cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Pune are leading with the highest number of screenings.
Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, Raid 2 introduces a new antagonist — Riteish Deshmukh playing the character of Dadabhai, a powerful political figure.
The film promises intense drama, action-packed fight sequences, and a gripping face-off between Devgn’s Patnaik and Deshmukh’s Dadabhai. Other key cast members include Vaani Kapoor, Rajat Kapoor, Supriya Pathak, and Amit Sial, while Tamannaah Bhatia is set to feature in a special dance number.
Backed by producers Bhushan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak, and Krishan Kumar, the film is produced under the banners of T-Series and Panorama Studios.

Speaking about the delay in the release, director Raj Kumar Gupta admitted that it took a long time to finalize a compelling story. “We worked really hard to create a good script. Audience perceptions of sequels can vary, but comparisons are inevitable when building a franchise,” he said.
Gupta praised the performances of Devgn and Deshmukh, calling their face-off a “dhamakedar performance” that audiences will surely enjoy. Raid 2 is scheduled to hit the big screens on 1 May 2025 and is poised to make a strong impact with its promising start.
