Radhika Merchant goes divine mode with custom Manish Malhotra’s ‘Durga-shloka’ embroidered lehenga for mameru

In a Gujarati wedding, several pre-wedding rituals are observed, one of which is the mameru or mosalu ceremony.

Radhika Merchant's pre-wedding festivities have been a treasure trove of fashion inspiration, and her ensemble at the recent mameru ceremony was no exception.

Marking the commencement of her wedding rituals at the opulent Antilia, she dazzled in a custom creation by Manish Malhotra, featuring intricate 'Durga-shloka' embroidery along the borders. Adding a sentimental touch, Radhika complemented her stunning outfit with heirloom jewelry from her mother, Shaila Merchant, who had worn the same pieces at her own mameru ceremony.

Manish Malhotra shared a series of breathtaking photos on social media, showcasing Radhika in the exquisite attire. "Gorgeous Radhika Merchant starts her Wedding functions looking stunning in a custom made vibrant bandini lehenga : Rai bandhej on a banarasi brocade in Rani pink. Classic embroidery in gold taar zardosi. Durga Maa shloka embroidered in the borders. 35 Mtrs of bandhej used to make the Ghagra. Blouse inspired by a vintage Koti.” he wrote.

Stylist Rhea Kapoor also shared Radhika's stunning look on social media. "Beautiful Radhika at her mausalu in Manish Malhotra wearing the jewels her mom wore at her mausalu (mameru),” she captioned the photos.

In a Gujarati wedding, several pre-wedding rituals are observed, one of which is the mameru or mosalu ceremony. This tradition involves the bride’s maternal uncle (mama) presenting her with gifts. In some cases, the ritual is carried out by the bride’s maternal aunt’s husband (mousa).

Radhika Merchant and Anant Ambani are set to wed on July 12 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. Before the grand event, the couple celebrated with two star-studded pre-wedding ceremonies. The first was hosted in Jamnagar, followed by a luxurious four-day cruise across Europe for their guests.

Prior to the mameru, the Ambani family organized a mass wedding for 50 underprivileged couples at the Reliance Corporate Park (RCP) in Navi Mumbai, showcasing their commitment to philanthropy.

Radhika’s appearance in a Manish Malhotra creation, paired with her mother's treasured jewelry, captured hearts as she prepared for her nuptials.

The mameru ceremony at Antilia in Mumbai was a star-studded affair, attended by prominent figures from the Indian entertainment industry, including Rhea Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor.
