Bigg Boss OTT 3 started with a bang on Friday (June 21) with the entry of 16 contestants in the house. The show is being hosted by Anil Kapoor for the first time.
Sana Makbul is also one of the contestants to get locked inside the house this time, and before her entry, MoneyControl spoke with her, and in an exclusive chat, she spoke about her health issues, sharing beds with strangers in the house, and other things she is most irritated about.
Sana, who was seen in the adventure-based reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi too, said she is doing this show not just for fame but also to test herself.
She also said she wants to clear up this allegation against her that her hepatitis is because of alcohol. Sana said she is a non-alcoholic and has never touched alcohol in her life.
Here are the excerpts from the interview:
Sana, you were a part of the KKK and now Bigg Boss. What prompted you to do this show?
Khatron was a different show; it was adventurous. I think Khatron is a different ball game altogether because Bigg Boss is a personality show. I want to show my personality. I want to show people the real me, the me-me. I really want people to fall in love.
Do you think now there is enough reach of OTT for a show like BB to be viewed?
Of course, Bigg Boss is the most watched show, whether on OTT or on TV. The reach, the medium, and the engagement of each and every audience are important, and a wider reach.
Sana, you had shared about your struggle with hepatitis; now how is it going?
Touchwood, I would say I am doing much better now. I think over the years, my health has been a priority for me. Right now, I think I came to an agreement, you know, with myself that I want to do this, and even if I am a hepatitis patient, I want this message out in public that no matter what you are dealing with, what you have, or what kind of illness you are having, you need to have the will that I will not lose hope or faith. I mean, live your life. It is just one life, so live. Just live.
You were being judged after your diagnosis about people thinking you must be consuming alcohol, etc.; how did you deal with it?
No, firstly, I am a non-alcoholic Hepatitis patient. "I've never consumed alcohol in my life and never will. I want to raise awareness about this. When people hear about liver disease, the first thing that comes to mind is alcohol consumption. But no, there are non-alcoholic liver patients as well, and I am one of them. I have autoimmune hepatitis. Autoimmune means a foreign agent attacks your body. In my case, it's attacking my liver because it's my weakest organ. This is genetic. My liver is weak. It can become fatty, and there are many liver symptoms we often ignore. Sometimes the liver swells, then it can become fatty, and then even worse. So, I'm in a situation where I have fibrosis, but alhamdulillah (praise God), I'm doing very well. I was at stage 4, but I've reversed it and am now at stage 1. Yes, I'm really looking forward to reversing this completely and getting my liver as healthy as possible. I'm normal. I'm not the patient people think I am. I'm just as strong as you, I just have this condition and I know how to manage it."
What will be your strategy inside the Bigg Boss House?
I don't like gaming, planning, or plotting at all. So, there is no strategy as such, but all I can say is that I just want to be myself, and my vision is very straight. I am very focused on what I want, and right now I want to win. So I am there to win.
What all duties would you like to take, kitchen or toilet?
If you give me a choice, I mean mujhe toh nhi chahiye rahega, but as I said, mera aisa mindset hai ki agar main uss ghar me reh rahi hun, jaise aap apne ghar ko ganda nhi rakhoge, right? Toh agar saamne wala apni duty nhi kar raha hai toh, I would feel ki Jahan aap uthrahe ho baithrahe ho wahan toh saaf safai honi chahiye. So, I think if the other person is not interested in keeping the house clean and wants to remain unhygienic, then I will have to take it on myself as I cannot live in unhygienic conditions. So, I would rather be a god cop in this and say, Ki thik hai tumko nhi karna hai tum mera duty lelo main kar lungi. I will try, as I have never done such things, but I will definitely try. Lekin agar mujhse bhi sahi nhi hoga toh main boldungi bhai jisko karna hai karo mujhe chodo.
How excited are you about entering Big Boss?
I am very excited, and I am really looking forward to this journey in my life. I hope and wish that I come out as a winner and as a changed person. Maine bhi apne dil aur dimag mein kuch cheezein rakhi hai jo mujhe seekhni hai, and I feel that once I come out, I come back with these lessons in my life.
Have you watched anybody's journey before entering the house?
No, not before entering the house. I have seen people's journeys, and I am really impressed with a lot of people.
How has life been treating you recently—work-wise and personally?
Personally, I am very, very good; trust me. Professionally, there are ups and downs, but that's part and parcel of our business. Today you get rejected in one audition; tomorrow you will be in another audition; you know you are one step ahead. So, rejection is part and parcel of your profession, and I feel it's okay. But right now, I have this job. Mujhe Bigg Boss mila hai, and I want to make good use of this opportunity and shine.
What made you decide on Bigg Boss OTT? Is it for fame, or do you want to tell your story to the world?
I think it's the best of both worlds. Fame, of course. But on the other hand, I also want to give people the message that if I can do it, you can do it. Whether it's my health or I take myself as a common person, If I can survive, you can also survive.
Do you think you can find a life partner inside the house? Like in the past, Karan and Tejasswi found each other; many others did too
You know, sometimes people click, sometimes people don't click. But I am not going with that mindset. I think my life partner is waiting for me outside the house. So, I am happy. I do not have that mindset, nor am I in that frame of mind that I am looking for love inside. Love is a big word for me. I don't think you will get love in a month. I mean, of course, you get attracted; you like it, but it takes time for it to convert into love. My definition of love is very different from other people's definitions of love. So I will not get involved in that thing, but I don't know; if someone else comes into love, then I don't know.
How comfortable are you sharing a bed with a stranger inside the house?
First of all, sharing things comes later, but I already have an issue with snoring. So if 10 people sleep in one room and some people die due to sleeping, then I have a problem with that thing. But I think I thought that. I mean, of course, not everybody will accept everything. There would be disagreements, but I felt that if he didn't talk to me or snore, I would quietly close my bed and find a corner, and I would sleep there. But yeah, adjustment is okay, but sharing my bed, I am not okay with that. That's my personal space, and in this house, that is going to be my corner, my space, and I don't want to share it with anybody. But if I get it to share, now there will be an argument in this, but if I get it to share, then I would want to share with a girl, of course. Just don't snore.
Who was your favorite contestant in Bigg Boss history? Who do you think played this game best?
This time I would say I would want to support women and women's empowerment, so Gauhar Khan. I think she nailed it. I really admire the personality she showed us and the way she was throughout the house and the entire season.
Sana is currently locked inside Bigg Boss OTT 3 house.
