  • CLAT 2026 provisional seat allotment list for UG, PG law programs released
  • Candidates must confirm, upgrade, or exit counselling and pay Rs 20,000 fee.
  • Allotment based on CLAT rank, preferences, and seat availability at NLUs

The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has released the first provisional seat allotment list for CLAT 2026 counselling today. Candidates who registered for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2026 counselling process can now check their allotment status on the official website, consortiumofnlus.ac.in.

The first allotment list marks an important stage in the CLAT 2026 admission process, as it decides the initial distribution of seats across National Law Universities for undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes. The allotment has been prepared based on candidates’ CLAT 2026 ranks, their preferences filled during counselling, and seat availability in each institute.

The first provisional seat allotment list shows which candidates have been allotted seats in five year integrated undergraduate law programmes as well as postgraduate law programmes. Since the allotment is provisional, it may change in the upcoming rounds of counselling depending on candidates’ choices and seat movement.

Candidates who have received a seat in this round are required to take action within the prescribed timeline to either confirm, upgrade, or exit the counselling process.

Options available after seat allotment

Candidates allotted a seat through the CLAT 2026 first provisional list can choose from the following options:

  • Freeze: This option is for candidates who are satisfied with the allotted seat and do not wish to participate in further counselling rounds.
  • Float: Candidates who accept the allotted seat but wish to be considered for higher-preference choices in the next rounds can choose this option.
  • Exit: Candidates who do not want to continue with CLAT 2026 counselling can opt to exit the process.

Candidates selecting either the freeze or float option must pay a non-refundable counselling confirmation fee of Rs 20,000 to secure their seat.
