Global sitar virtuoso Anoushka Shankar has just concluded her Chapters Tour 2026 across India, commemorating an extraordinary 30-year journey in music. Only days after her final performance in Kolkata, she reached another major milestone — becoming the first Indian musician and sitar player to feature on the globally acclaimed mainstream programme, The Graham Norton Show.

During her appearance, Anoushka shared the stage with the celebrated English virtual band Gorillaz. She later posted a clip from the show on social media, reflecting on the experience of performing Orange Country alongside singer-songwriter Kara Jackson.

"Performing their song ‘Orange County’ - featuring @karakara and me - and chatting to Graham in front of such a gorgeous studio audience was so fun,” she wrote.

In addition to this, Anoushka also expressed ecstasy about featuring on The Graham Norton show merely days after “one of the most iconic performances of my life in Kolkata last weekend.”

Last week, Anoushka Shankar wrapped up her Chapters Tour across India, capping off a successful run of performances. One of the most talked-about moments from the tour was her surprise on-stage collaboration with Arijit Singh — a powerful musical coming together that made headlines, particularly as it followed his announcement about stepping away from playback singing.

Fresh off the momentum of her India tour and the widely discussed performance with Arijit, Anoushka continued her global ascent by appearing on The Graham Norton Show. The milestone marked yet another proud moment on the international stage, reinforcing her presence as a global ambassador of Indian classical music.

Rather than getting swept up in the buzz, Anoushka remains focused on growth and evolution. As she marks 30 years of her journey as a sitarist, these achievements feel less like isolated triumphs and more like natural extensions of her artistic path. Through every stage she steps onto, she continues to connect cultures, transcend borders and unite generations — all through the timeless language of Indian classical music.
