The decision to have a civil marriage underlines the couple's desire for a union based on mutual respect and love, rather than religious conformity.

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal are set to tie the knot on June 23, marking a significant event in Bollywood. The announcement of their marriage has generated considerable interest and speculation, primarily due to their different religious backgrounds. However, Iqbal Ratanasi, the groom's father, has clarified that Sonakshi Sinha will not convert to Islam after the marriage. He stressed that the wedding would be a civil marriage, free from any religious rituals, be they Muslim or Hindu.

In an interview with Free Press Journal, Ratanasi elaborated on the nature of the upcoming nuptials. "Sonakshi will not convert to Islam after the couple gets married," he said. "The wedding will neither have Muslim rituals nor Hindu rituals. It will be a civil marriage. He further added, "She is not converting and that is for sure. Theirs is a union of hearts and religion has no role to play whatsoever."

Ratanasi’s comments come amid swirling rumours and speculation surrounding the marriage. According to reports, Shatrughan Sinha, Sonakshi’s father, had reservations about the union due to the interfaith nature of the relationship. However, these concerns were laid to rest when the families came together for dinner and posed for paparazzi.

The groom’s father’s statement not only dispels rumours but also highlights the couple’s commitment to a marriage that transcends religious boundaries. Ratanasi's blessing for the couple was heartfelt and inclusive. "I believe in humanity. God is called Bhagwan by Hindus and Allah by Muslims. But at the end of the day, we are all human beings. My blessings are with Zaheer and Sonakshi," he said.

Sonakshi and Zaheer’s wedding will be registered under the Special Marriage Act of 1954, ensuring a legal and secular union. The ceremony is planned to take place at Zaheer's Bandra residence on Carter Road. The wedding festivities have already begun with a traditional Mehendi function, setting the stage for the main event. Post their registered marriage on June 23, the couple plans to host a celebratory party for their friends at Bastian, a well-known venue.

The decision to have a civil marriage underlines the couple's desire for a union based on mutual respect and love, rather than religious conformity.

Sonakshi Sinha, a prominent actress in the Indian film industry, and Zaheer Iqbal, an actor known for his roles in various films, have been in the public eye since they announced their relationship. Their wedding, devoid of religious rituals, is seen as a significant step towards breaking traditional barriers and embracing a more secular approach to marriage.

The public reaction to this announcement has been mixed. While some have praised the couple for their modern and inclusive approach, others have raised questions about the departure from traditional practices.

Iqbal Ratanasi’s clarification also aims to prevent any misinterpretation or controversy that might arise from their marriage. By addressing the issue directly, he has ensured that the couple’s intentions are clear and that their marriage is viewed in the right light.
