In exciting news for fans, Mohanlal has officially confirmed his return as Georgekutty in Drishyam 3. The acclaimed actor also revealed key details about the upcoming thriller-drama’s filming process.
On June 21, Mohanlal took to X to share a teaser video that set social media abuzz. The video began with a powerful clip of him reprising his role as Georgekutty, followed by a symbolic moment where he is seen shaking hands with director Jeethu Joseph and producer Anthony Perumbavoor—marking the much-anticipated reunion of the franchise’s core creative team.

Drishyam emerged as a hugely successful franchise, earning widespread acclaim and being remade in multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Sinhalese, and even Chinese. The original Malayalam version, released in 2013, starred Mohanlal alongside Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Asha Sharath, Siddique, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Roshan Basheer, and Neeraj Madhav.
In an earlier interview with India Today, Mohanlal had shared his openness to the idea of a crossover with Ajay Devgn, who played the central character in the Hindi remake of the acclaimed thriller.
The news that the Hindi adaptation of Drishyam, starring Ajay Devgn, is also expected to start production at the same time heightens the excitement. Production on the Hindi remake is anticipated to begin on October 2, 2025, a date that holds particular meaning for the Drishyam franchise, according to Pinkvilla.

A source informed, “The Gandhi Jayanti date holds a lot of symbolic value for the franchise. It’s a marathon schedule, planned over three months across real locations in Maharashtra as well as studio setups. Ajay Devgn has already allotted his dates."
Ajay Devgn played the lead in the 2015 release of the Hindi version of Drishyam, with Shriya Saran, Tabu, and Akshaye Khanna playing important supporting roles. Drishyam 2 was widely praised for its compelling plot and outstanding performances. In addition to striking a chord with viewers, the movie also saw tremendous box office success, becoming one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of 2022.
