Hollywood actor Johnny Depp is all set to return to the big screen with his upcoming film, Day Drinker, following his highly publicised defamation trial with ex-wife Amber Heard.
The film's production house, Lionsgate, has revealed the first look at the actor’s character.
Johnny Depp has undergone a full transformation for his character and looked unrecognizable in the first look photo. Alongside the photo, the caption reads, “The first look at #DayDrinkerMovie. Starring Johnny Depp, Penélope Cruz, Madelyn Cline, Manu Ríos, Arón Piper, Juan Diego Botto, and Anika Boyle – coming soon.”
In the first photo, Depp is seen with a drink in his hand, channeling what appears to be a dark character. He wears a blue shirt layered with a blue blazer. For his character, he wears grey hair and a beard.
According to Deadline, Depp plays a mysterious guest on board a private yacht who crosses paths with a bartender on the boat, played by Glass Onion actor Cline. However, the synopsis reads, "They soon find themselves entangled with a criminal figure (Cruz) and connected in ways no one saw coming."
Directed by Marc Webb, the production of the film kicked off on April 14.
The filmmaker recently spoke to the outlet about the film and expressed his excitement about starting production. He said, "I’m excited to be starting production with Johnny, Madelyn, Penélope, and this incredible cast."
The filmmaker added, “We’re in a beautiful location with a fantastic crew and a thrilling, ferocious story to tell. This is gonna be fun."
Johnny Depp was last seen in 2018's Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. The actor is also expected to star as satan in Carnival at the End of Days.
