Two-time Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey has opened up about the impact the sexual misconduct allegations have had on his life, revealing that he hasn’t been able to find steady work since they surfaced.
In a recent interview with The Daily Telegraph, Kevin said the financial strain caused by the accusations, which first came to light in 2017, led to him losing his home.
In 2022, a New York jury found Spacey not liable for battery over claims that he picked up actor Anthony Rapp and lay on top of him after a party in 1986. A year later, in 2023, he was acquitted of multiple sexual assault charges by a London court in a separate case.
The actor shared, "I'm living in hotels, I'm living in Airbnbs. I'm going where the work is. I literally have no home, that's what I'm attempting to explain."
He added, “The costs over these last seven years have been astronomical. I’ve had very little coming in and everything going out.”
Spacey explained that his Baltimore home was auctioned off as his overall financial situation became increasingly difficult.
Since 2017, more than a dozen men have accused him of sexual misconduct—allegations he has consistently denied. He was found not guilty in the 2023 London trial, where four men alleged he assaulted them between 2001 and 2013. He was also found not liable in Anthony Rapp’s 2022 civil lawsuit, in which Rapp claimed that Spacey, then 26, had molested him when he was 14 in 1986.

Now 66, Spacey had built an acclaimed career beginning in the 1980s, eventually winning two Academy Awards—for Best Supporting Actor in The Usual Suspects (1995) and Best Actor in American Beauty (1999). But after the allegations surfaced, Netflix severed ties with him on House of Cards, and his scenes in Ridley Scott’s All the Money in the World were reshot by the late Christopher Plummer.
Spacey has maintained that he never engaged in any improper or criminal behaviour, and though he has won major legal battles, he has yet to be fully welcomed back into Hollywood.
