After an incredible run at international accolades and worldwide critical acclaim as one of the year's best pictures, the film became one of the most praised foreign films of recent years.
The Secret Agent will release in the theatres on February 27 in India.

The crime thriller, which was directed by the highly regarded Kleber Mendonça Filho and starred Wagner Moura in a strong performance, has received a lot of praise from around the world.
The film won accolades for its storyline, performances, and direction and was nominated for major international awards shows (Academy Awards, BAFTA) and film festivals.
The film won several awards at the Cannes Film Festival, including Best Actor for Moura and Best Director for Mendonça Filho.
At the Golden Globes, it won Best Foreign Language Film and Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for Moura, thus solidifying its place as one of the most talked-about political thrillers of the past few years.
Director Kleber Mendonça Filho talked about the film arriving in the Indian theatres and said, “The Secret Agent is a film shaped by memory, personal, political, and cinematic. Though set in 1977, it speaks to recurring patterns in society that still feel very present today. I’m thrilled that Indian audiences will experience the film in cinemas, where its atmosphere and tension truly unfold.”

Lead actor Wagner Moura added, “Marcelo is not a conventional hero; he is a man trying to remain humane in a world that constantly tests him. The response to the film has been overwhelming, and I’m excited for Indian audiences to connect with its emotional and political resonance.”
The Secret Agent is about a technological genius who escapes a murky background and seeks serenity in his birthplace of Recife during a period of enormous mischief and turmoil in Brazil in 1977. But the city quickly shows itself to be anything but a haven, entangling him in a world of peril, monitoring, and ethical uncertainty. Grindhouse aesthetics and incisive social commentary are combined in this visually arresting and thematically rich political thriller to create a story that is both incredibly suspenseful and profoundly human.
