Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar’s Ground Zero, starring Emraan Hashmi, Sai Tamhankar, and Zoya Hussain, hit cinemas with high expectations following widespread critical acclaim. However, despite favourable reviews from both critics and audiences, the film's opening day performance at the box office has been relatively modest.
Arriving in theatres just days after the tragic Pahalgam terror attack, the film’s release unintentionally aligned with heightened public emotion—proving to be, in a way, a blessing in disguise. Yet, Ground Zero had a quiet start, largely relying on word-of-mouth to draw audiences.
According to early estimates, the film earned between ₹1 crore and ₹1.50 crores at the Indian box office on day one. While this figure helped the film outperform the likes of Superboys Of Malegaon (₹50 lakhs), it only marginally edged out Crazxy (₹1.10 crore), and remains among the lowest openers of 2025.
Here’s a look at the bottom five Bollywood openings this year:
Superboys Of Malegaon: ₹50 lakhs
Crazxy: ₹1.10 crores
Loveyapa: ₹1.25 crores
Ground Zero: ₹1-1.50 crores (estimates)
Azaad: ₹1.50 crores
Despite its positive reception, Ground Zero failed to break into the top 10 opening day collections of the year. To make it into the tenth spot, it needed to cross ₹3.11 crores and surpass Emergency, but fell considerably short.

Part of the struggle stems from tough competition at the box office. Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2 continues to dominate the screens and audience attention, even impacting the second-week run of Sunny Deol’s Jaat.
If Ground Zero doesn’t gather momentum over the weekend, it risks being overshadowed. With big-ticket releases like Raid 2 and The Bhootnii arriving in just a few days, the film’s theatrical journey is set to become even more challenging.
