Actor Emraan Hashmi has opened up about his upcoming film Haq and the thought process that went into choosing a subject that is deeply sensitive, layered, and rooted in a landmark moment in Indian history. Speaking about the film, Emraan explained that Haq deals with an issue that once divided the country into two strong ideological sides, making it important for him to be sure about the film’s intent.

“Because a subject like this, going back, jo landmark case tha us waqt, pura desh ek tarah se do hisson mein bat gaya tha,” Emraan said. He pointed out that one side stood firmly with religion and personal faith, while the other leaned towards constitutional and secular rights. For him, the biggest question before saying yes to the film was whether the makers had approached this sensitive divide with balance and honesty.

He shared that his main concern was to understand the director and writer’s point of view. “Mujhe yeh dekhna tha ki is film mein director aur writer ka point of view balanced hai, unbiased hai, neutral hai,” he explained. Emraan added that once he was convinced about this, his decision became clear. “Uska short answer hai, haan, it was very neutral,” he said firmly.

Emraan also spoke about how audiences might react after watching Haq. He admitted that it is difficult to predict whether viewers will change their opinions after the film. “Main yeh nahi keh sakta ki jab log film dekh kar bahar aayenge toh unka opinion kya hoga,” he said honestly. However, he strongly believes that most people will find the film extremely balanced in its storytelling and treatment.

What stood out for Emraan was the way the film presents a Muslim perspective without being defensive or aggressive. “Ek jo cheez nikal ke bahar aati hai meri community ke liye, I felt that this is from a liberal Muslim’s point of view,” he shared. According to him, this approach is what makes the film powerful and relevant, especially in today’s climate where discussions often turn extreme.

Praising the team behind Haq, Emraan did not hold back. “I think this is a great piece of work,” he said, adding that the entire team has put together a “very, very good film.” He also made a special appeal to the Muslim community, saying, “Muslims should really come and watch this film.”

Finally, Emraan reflected on his own journey with the script. He said that when he reads such scripts, he first approaches them purely as an actor. But Haq was special. “Is film mein pehli baar mujhe ek Muslim ka point of view dekhne ko mila,” he said, making it clear why the project resonated with him on a deeper level.
