Continuing its thunderous run since early December, Dhurandhar has firmly established itself as one of the biggest box office success stories in recent times. Adding another major milestone to its journey, the Union Territory of Ladakh has officially declared the film tax-free, further amplifying its already historic theatrical momentum in India and overseas.

The announcement was made by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh through an official communication shared on X. Lt. Governor Shri Kavinder Gupta confirmed that the espionage thriller will be exempt from entertainment tax across the UT, a move widely seen as both a cultural endorsement and a boost for regional cinema engagement.

Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar is produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios. The film stars Ranveer Singh in the lead, supported by a formidable ensemble that includes Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and Sara Arjun. Mounted as a large-scale espionage thriller, the film dives deep into covert intelligence missions inspired by real events, blending political intrigue with high-octane action.

Ladakh’s decision to make the film tax-free is being viewed as a strategic and symbolic gesture. The region played a significant role in the film’s visual identity, with several key portions shot amid its stark, cinematic landscapes. An official note from the administration highlighted that the film showcases Ladakh’s natural grandeur, underlining the UT’s growing push to position itself as a preferred destination for filmmakers and large-scale productions.

Since its release, Dhurandhar has delivered massive opening numbers and shown remarkable staying power at the box office, driven by strong word-of-mouth and repeat audiences. Trade analysts have pointed out that the tax-free status could further widen the film’s reach in the region, encouraging more viewers to experience it on the big screen.

As Dhurandhar continues its triumphant theatrical run and steadily builds anticipation for its sequel slated for March, the Ladakh tax-free declaration stands as yet another testament to the film’s cultural impact, commercial dominance, and landmark status in contemporary Hindi cinema.
