Actor Arjun Bijlani and his family are going through an incredibly painful and emotional time after the sudden death of his father-in-law, Rakesh Chandra Swami.

73-year-old Rakesh Chandra Swami passing came as a complete shock, especially since it occurred during what was supposed to be a happy New Year's celebration for the family. The unexpected loss has left everyone grappling with grief and disbelief.

Arjun Bijlani was reportedly holidaying in Dubai with his wife, Neha Swami, and their son when the medical emergency struck.

The moment he was informed that Rakesh Chandra Swami had suffered a stroke and was admitted to the ICU, Arjun Bijlani immediately cut short the trip and rushed back to Mumbai.

Despite doctors’ efforts and intensive care, his father-in-law could not recover, leaving the family heartbroken.

Images and videos from the funeral have since surfaced online, offering a glimpse into the family’s grief and touching many who saw them.

In one particularly emotional moment, Arjun Bijlani was seen tightly holding and consoling his young son, trying to reassure him while fighting back tears himself.

Another deeply moving scene showed Arjun Bijlani carrying his father-in-law’s body on his shoulders as a pallbearer, a quiet yet powerful gesture of love, respect and responsibility during the final rites.

A family member, speaking to HT City, shared details of how suddenly everything unfolded. “He was fit and fine and was about to have dinner when he suddenly suffered a stroke. He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was put on a ventilator. The entire family is in shock. Neha and Arjun had met the family just before flying to Dubai, so this has come as a complete shock,” the family member said.

The final rites of Rakesh Chandra Swami were held on Thursday afternoon at the Oshiwara crematorium in Mumbai, attended by close family members and loved ones.

He is survived by his daughter Neha Swami, who is married to Arjun Bijlani, and his son, Nishank Swami.
